PD-33 – Lateral Pipe Bursting Machine
The Pow-R Mole model PD-33 pipe bursting machine is a fast and efficient pipe replacement system offering a cost-effective alternative to open trench. This machine features the longest stroke (24") of any cable bursting system on the market. Its unique non-slip, cylinder-activated jaws are designed to prevent cable damage. The PD-33 develops 60,000 lbs (30 tons) of pulling force at a rate of six feet per minute. The jaw system pulls a 7/8" pre-stretched cable that is swedged down to 3/4". The spelter end of the cable is field repairable. This system is capable of bursting cast iron, concrete, HDPE, asbestos cement, PVC, ductile iron, orangeburg, and clay pipe from 2 to 6 inches. PD-33 Gate Extension
This gate extension allows the bursting head to enter the pit or basement for easy detachment. The open bottom makes it possible to insert this gate before or during the burst.
PD-33M – Lateral Pipe Bursting Machine
The new model PD-33M compact pipe bursting machine is designed to replace existing underground pipes from 2 to 6inches in diameter. Its non-slip cylinder-activated jaws prevent cable damage, while developing 60,000 pounds of pulling force. The PD-33M system offers a cost-effective alternative to open-cut excavation, which reduces your customer disruption and increases company profits. The process of pipe bursting replaces the existing pipe with a fused HDPE pipe, which eliminates all joints and allows you to burst through multiple 45 degree offsets. This system is modular and can be easily disassembled and reassembled for manhole and basement applications. With a new compact design and very small footprint of only 20" x 20", this unit can be used in the tightest of locations.

Features
• Non-slip, cylinder-activated jaws
• Modular construction allowing access to almost any location (basements and manholes)
• Low pressure system operates from hydraulic power packs or backhoe (3,000psi)
• Compact design (footprint of 20" x 20") allows for operation in a very small pit

PD-4
The PD-4 was designed for use in difficult soil conditions where a pipe or cable is to be installed under a road or in an area which cannot be dug. These machines are excellent in areas where space is limited.

The PD-4 will operate from a pit only 50 inches long. Despite its small size, the PD-4 has a thrust force of 37,714 lbs @ 3,000 psi and a maximum push rate of 9 feet/minute. The PD-4 can install up to 4-inch ID pipe in most compressible soils.

How It Works
The model PD-8 uses a cylinder actuated positive-locking, non-slip jaw assembly that provides a steady force when driving or pulling rods. Sections of 2.5' push rods are screwed together and thrust into the existing pipe. When the target pit is reached, the lead head is removed and the appropriate pipe bursting expander is attached. The pipe that is to be installed is attached with a grip to the expander and the rods are retrieved until the pipe is installed.

Minimum Maintenance-Maximum Life
The high strength steel frame is protected from wearing forces by a chrome plated steel guide bar. The pushing mechanism slides on bronze bushings and uses special wiper seals to keep the lubricant in and the water and dirt out. The patented mechanism provides long lasting service with a minimum of maintenance.

PD-6
The PD-6 was designed for use in difficult soil conditions where a pipe or cable is to be installed under a road or in an area which cannot be dug. The PD-6 can install pipes by either directional thrust boring or pipe bursting. This system is capable of bursting cast iron, concrete, asbestos cement, PVC, ductile iron, orangeburg and clay pipe from 3 to 8 inches. These machines are excellent in areas where space is limited.

The PD-6 will operate from a pit only 56 inches long and has a thrust force of 84,822 lbs @ 3,000 psi. The maximum push rate of PD-6 is 7 feet/minute and it can install up to 8-inch ID pipe in most compressible soils.
